Missions Conference

We would like to welcome you to Broken Arrow Baptist Temple’s 2022 Missions Conference. We desire all who attend this conference to receive a blessing from the preaching, the presentations, and the fellowship. But beyond these five days, our hearts need an enduring burden to reach lost souls near and far from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The theme of this year’s Missions Conference is “First Things First”. We can easily assign value to Biblical matters and label certain actions as “spiritually significant”. However, the follow-up question is whether we are giving priority, and furthermore preeminence, to serving God with each day of our life?!

We take our theme verse from Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” The things which often burden us are found in the previous two verses. They are physical, not spiritual concerns: what we will eat, what we will drink, and what we will wear. Although necessary, these needs are not to be that which God’s people seek after. Our efforts are to be directed toward the lost around us, and the lost beyond us; that through giving and going, the Great Commission might be fulfilled.

We must all evaluate our lives honestly: what portion of our time, energy, and resources is dedicated to furthering God’s kingdom and what portion is dedicated to furthering our individual kingdoms? As the recent preaching and teaching has showed us, God never meant for men to be kings, or for a people to live as kings. Physical abundance and comfortable living are a distraction - placing the emphasis on serving ourselves and not serving our Savior.

With our annual Missions Conference being the first major event on the calendar, let us allow God to make His service first in our life. And while we are only in the second month of the year, let us establish that seeking God’s kingdom comes first.
